In 1968 the military dictatorship is established in Brazil. After murdering a soldier, resistence fighter Alice flees to her hometown, reuniting with her sister Carmem and her teenage love, Helena. As they organize her late mother's belongings, their relationships are put to the test. As Alice hides the true reason for her return, Carmem dreams of reuniting with her lost son and Helena, now a nun, conceals the love she still feels for Alice. Powerless in the face of life's circumstances and censored by different social and personal layers, they are left to confront each other and themselves.

O ano é 1968. Após assassinar um militar, Alice (38) foge para sua cidade natal e reencontra sua irmã, Carmem (41), e seu grande amor da adolescência, Helena (36). Enquanto organizam os pertences da falecida mãe, a relação dessas mulheres é colocada à prova. Alice esconde o real motivo da sua volta, Carmem sonha reencontrar o filho que não vê há anos e Helena tornou-se freira, silenciando sua sexualidade e amor por Alice. Impotentes diante das circunstâncias da vida e censuradas em diversas camadas sociais e pessoais, tudo o que resta é confrontarem umas às outras e a si próprias.
